We all lead busy lives-and when we're on the go-we're sometimes forced to make poor food choices. Here are some simple steps to eating healthy when you're out and about.

    Buy disposable containers and stock up on cut fruit, vegetables, brown rice, beans and other healthy snacks to bring along to work, in the car and on a plane. I always have multi-grain bread in my fridge so I can make a healthy sandwich to wrap for the road. I also have jars of raw nuts and dried fruits that are great for snacking.

    If you aren't prepared, you can always grab a 200-calorie snack bar (with all ingredients that you can pronounce-for instance Balance Bars are great) and keep it in your purse, car or desk at work.

    If you need to stop for food, try to choose the lesser of the evils. Go for quality over those fast food establishments.

    Avoid anything fried. Look for dishes that are grilled and skip anything covered in creamy sauces and dressings.

    Always leave a restaurant with food to take away. You can have it for lunch the next day or as an appetizer. It's economical and helps your waistline as well.
