We all lead busy lives-and when we're on the go-we're sometimes forced to make poor food choices. Here are some simple steps to eating healthy when you're out and about.
Instructions
- 1Buy disposable containers and stock up on cut fruit, vegetables, brown rice, beans and other healthy snacks to bring along to work, in the car and on a plane. I always have multi-grain bread in my fridge so I can make a healthy sandwich to wrap for the road. I also have jars of raw nuts and dried fruits that are great for snacking.
- 2If you aren't prepared, you can always grab a 200-calorie snack bar (with all ingredients that you can pronounce-for instance Balance Bars are great) and keep it in your purse, car or desk at work.
- 3If you need to stop for food, try to choose the lesser of the evils. Go for quality over those fast food establishments.
- 4Avoid anything fried. Look for dishes that are grilled and skip anything covered in creamy sauces and dressings.
- 5Always leave a restaurant with food to take away. You can have it for lunch the next day or as an appetizer. It's economical and helps your waistline as well.
